About Sunflower Assessments LLC

1 in 31 children in the U.S. have autism and 1 in 6 children in the U.S. have a developmental disability. It is crucial for these children to be diagnosed as early as possible in order for them to receive the therapies they need to reach their full potential. The best outcomes are seen in children that start therapies before three years old.

Unfortunately, due to the limited clinic time of general pediatricians and the significant shortage of specialist pediatricians, even after having received a positive screening for developmental delays or autism, many children remain undiagnosed for months or even years. Sunflower Assessments LLC strives to bridge this gap.

Children that receive a positive screening or are suspected of having a developmental delay or autism by the general pediatrician are referred to developmental pediatricians, neurologists and psychiatrists for comprehensive care. Many children will wait anywhere between 6 months to 2 years for these appointments. At Sunflower Assessments LLC, our goal is to provide children with evaluations for autism and developmental delays sooner, so that the child can start therapies while waiting for their appointment with the specialist physician.

Assessments and appointments are conducted at the child's home or at the child's school to reduce disruptions in the child's routine and provide them with a comfortable environment.

Can a General Pediatrician Diagnose Autism?

Due to the shortage of specialist physicians able to diagnose autism, the AAP supports the education of general pediatricians to diagnose autism using appropriate evaluations.

At Sunflower Assessments LLC, our goal is to diagnose children with autism and connect them and their families with appropriate therapies and resources while they wait for their specialist pediatrician appointment.

We do not replace your specialist pediatrician or general pediatrician.
