Services Offered: ADHD

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental condition that affects millions of children and often continues into adulthood. It involves ongoing differences in brain development and activity that cause persistent problems with attention, hyperactivity, and impulse control.

Symptoms typically begin before age 12 and must be present in two or more settings (like at home and at school) to be diagnosed.

ADHD symptoms are grouped into three categories, and a child can be diagnosed with one of the following presentations:

  • Predominantly Inattentive Presentation: Difficulty with focus, organization, and attention to detail. These symptoms may be less disruptive and, therefore, sometimes overlooked, especially in girls.

  • Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation: Excessive energy, fidgeting, talking too much, and acting without thinking about the consequences.

  • Combined Presentation: A mix of inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms. This is the most common type.

  • For children 6 years and older

  • Children whose parents suspect their child might have ADHD

  • Children whose teachers, general pediatricians or other providers suspect the child might have ADHD
